ABOUT TYLER
Ms. Tyler Elizabeth Ball provides independent water treatment engineering consulting & project management services to mining companies, industrial clients and municipalities.
Water treatment done well helps everyone stay on the right side of the law, but most importantly, it protects our natural and human environment. This has been the driving force behind Tyler’s past 15 years professionally, during which time she honed her extensive experience in managing and designing mine, industrial and municipal water treatment solutions, as well as personally in her passion projects for many years prior to formally entering the field of environmental engineering.
As a water treatment engineer, Tyler specializes in providing elegant solutions on time and on budget, even amidst challenging or evolving conditions, whether the mandate requires designing an entirely new system or upgrading existing facilities with new technology.
Tyler holds a Master’s of Applied Science in Civil Engineering (Water Treatment) from Ecole Polytechnique in Montreal, Canada, as well as dual Bachelor’s degrees in Applied Science in Engineering Chemistry and in Business German from Queen’s University in Ontario, Canada. With 15 years working at major consulting firms under her belt, Tyler has tackled tough water treatment challenges and solutions (ammonia and metals removal, for instance), and has successfully overcome numerous project complications (such as tight deadlines, reduced budgets, changing client goals, etc.)
Today, as an independent water treatment consultant, Tyler focuses on delivery with a level of flexibility that large firms cannot achieve, in mandates that can start small. Bypassing the need to sell any specific products or services, she can bring several different parties together toward an efficient and effective solution, having worked with many different actors in the water treatment industry over her career.
Tyler is -- and has always been -- globally-minded. She welcomes international independent water treatment engineering mandates for mining companies, industries and the public sector. A multilingual and effective communicator (English, French, German, Spanish), she has hands-on technical experience working in several countries, namely Canada-wide, Germany, Bolivia, Guinea (Conakry) and the Dominican Republic. She has worked with partners in various capacities in the US, Mexico, Trinidad, Vietnam and Saudi Arabia, to name a few.
Tyler is a mother of 3 based in the Montreal area; a presenter and published writer who over the years has tirelessly devoted herself to fulfilling personal projects championing the causes of environmentalism, clean water, and the advancement of women in the field of engineering, notably by mentoring future or young female engineers, especially chemical and civil, through the OIQ's (Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec) program.
